This explains what information Local Engine (Jack Costello, ABN 76 168 039 369) holds, why, and how you can have it changed or removed. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988.
What we collect
- Before you're a client: your business's publicly listed contact details — business name, phone, email, website, suburb — from your own website, your Google Business Profile, and public business directories. We do not collect personal information beyond what a business has chosen to publish.
- If you become a client: the information needed to run the products you pay for — contact and billing details, and service data such as call and text metadata. For the AI receptionist, that includes call recordings and transcripts.
Why we hold it
- To contact your business about our services, once, with a clear way to opt out.
- To build, deliver and support the products a client has signed up for.
- To meet our tax and record-keeping obligations.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information or share it for anyone else's marketing. We share it only with the service providers needed to run a product you're paying for — for example a telephony provider for a phone number, or a payment processor for invoicing — and only the minimum they need.
How long we keep it
- Business contact details: until you opt out or ask us to delete them, whichever comes first.
- Client service data, including receptionist call transcripts: only as long as needed to deliver and support the service. Transcripts are deleted within 30 days of a request or of you leaving, unless you've asked for an export first.
- Records we're legally required to keep (e.g. invoices): for as long as the law requires.
Your choices
- Opt out of contact: reply STOP or unsubscribe to any message, or email us. We action it within 5 business days and add you to a do-not-contact list so it doesn't happen again.
- See, correct or delete what we hold: email us and we'll respond within a reasonable time, normally 30 days.
- Complain: email us first. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
